88 Words About New Bookplate Designs

S o, I played around with some bookplate designs today. The pix are way overexposed and don't show the really pretty vintagy cream color that I chose for the labels. Also, there's some blurriness, but the bookplates look fab in person! I have lots more ideas swirling around in my head. These and more will soon be available for personalization and purchase in my shop, in packets of twenty. I'm even talking to the hubby about doing some custom designed one-of-a-kind bookplates. Awesome.

88 Words About Words for Your Wall

E tsy seller SuzannaAnna does magical things with words for your wall. She has so many wonderful designs, I spent close to an hour browsing, drooling, wishing that I had all of them. I think they'd look pretty smart plastered all over the wall above my writing desk. Typography has always fascinated me, alas I suck at it. SuzannaAnna does not. It was so hard to choose, but since I've sat on John Lennon's lap, I was compelled to love this set of prints featuring the Beatle's Blackbird lyrics:

Very exactly like this one here.

I think it's definitely safe to say, that this here pen is mightier than a sword. And also, so is a MacBook. Which makes me ARMED & DANGEROUS. Watch out wollode, here I come.

And Juni, you spoil me. Thank you, my anonymous friend and benefactor.

88 Words About Mad Papercutting Skillz

U ncovering buried gems at Etsy is always a good time. Today I discovered, quite by accident, this super neat little shop: papercutdiecut.

I was blown away by the intricacy and delicate beauty in these paper thin art pieces.

They are hand cut from a single sheet of paper using scissors and a sharp knife.  I honestly can't figure out how the prices are so low, considering the skill and time it must take. I mean, LOOK AT THOSE TREES! You wanna to see more?  Go take a look!

88 Words About Remmi 5

B ehold the beauty of the Remington Rand #5 typewriter. This lovely piece of machinery debuted in 1935, with a special self starter button (red, bottom right) which made for automatic indention. Hit it once for a five space tab, twice for ten.

It was also the first model to adopt the graceful art deco lines, utilizing curves where past writing machines were boxy and cumbersome. In my opinion, it is the prettiest typewriter of them all.

And I am now the proud owner of this gorgeous machine. Hoorah!

88 Words About a Bookplate Junkie

I have always been a huge fan of bookplates, also known as Ex Libris, meaning "from the library of" in latin, and I have been meaning to start designing them for quite sometime. I don't know why I haven't.

Today I stumbled upon a fun blog, Confessions of a Bookplate Junkie, which chronicles one man's obsession with vintage bookplates. I had such fun browsing the site, and can't wait to design some bookplates of my own!

Check out this super sassy vintage bookplate I came across today... ooh-la-la!

B efore you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you’re a mile away and you have their shoes.

At Christmas time, when we rent a big house and cram all bazillion of us in it, you will find small groups of us huddled into corners poring over various Jack Handey books, usually with tears in our eyes from laughing so hard. This is where my literary genius comes from.
